When you diagnose a gallbladder mucocele, what happens next?

Join AREC Internal Medicine Specialist Dr Ferran Valls Sanchez and Small Animal Surgery Specialist Dr Adheip Prabakaran for a practical evening exploring gallbladder mucoceles from both the medical and surgical perspectives.

Ferran will take you through clinical presentation, differential diagnoses for jaundice, diagnosis of mucoceles and bile peritonitis, and the role of medical management. He’ll also look at one of the most important clinical decisions: when is it time to call the surgeon?

Adheip will pick up from there, covering surgical indications and anatomy, open and laparoscopic techniques, anaesthetic considerations and potential complications. He’ll also explore the evidence around elective versus urgent cholecystectomy, and why earlier intervention can make a significant difference to outcomes.

Designed for vets in general practice, this free CPD session will give you practical guidance to help recognise, investigate and manage these cases, and make confident decisions about when referral is warranted.
