Elke has always been passionate about animals and contributing to their conservation. She began her animal care journey in 2011 when she travelled to Malaysia to participate in the Great Orangutan Project, working in a number of overseas institutes with exotic fauna. She then went on to graduate from the University of New England in 2016 with a Bachelor of Zoology with Honours and complete her Certificate III in Captive Animal Management. Elke has been volunteering at Taronga Zoo for two years where she works with the primates and African hoof stock.
Elke joined the AREC team in November 2017 as an Animal Attendant to build on her skills and gain experience in an area that she has always been keenly interested in- emergency and critical care.
