Ferran became a European specialist in small animal internal medicine in 2019. Since then, he has focused on making specialist knowledge practical and accessible for everyday clinical work. He is passionate about supporting first-opinion teams and helping them feel confident managing complex medical cases.
After graduating from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2011, Ferran completed rotating internships in Spain and the UK, followed by a residency in internal medicine. He later worked as a senior clinician and head of service at a leading referral hospital, where he combined hands-on clinical work with mentoring and team leadership.
Ferran also co-founded two educational initiatives designed to bring high-quality, people-centred learning to vets. He is particularly interested in team-based learning and creating supportive environments where vets can grow in both skill and confidence. He also works as an Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has authored several articles in peer-reviewed veterinary journals.
Ferran is a strong advocate for mental health within the veterinary profession. Having lived with obsessive-compulsive disorder since childhood, he cares deeply about improving wellbeing, workplace culture and working conditions in small animal practice. He believes that excellent medicine and healthy, supportive teams go hand in hand.
Outside of work, Ferran enjoys building Lego creations inspired by books and films, discovering good food, drawing and getting lost in a mystery novel.
