Originally from Western Australia, Dr Tammy Gillian became a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists Small Animal Surgery Chapter in 2004 and is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery. Since 2004, she has worked primarily as a consultant in small animal surgery at various specialist referral centres in the UK.

Dr Gillian’s areas of interest include soft tissue, orthopaedics and spinal surgery, as well as oncology, chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery. She is also experienced in performing laparoscopic surgeries, stent replacements, endoscopies and acupuncture.

After more than 20 years abroad, Dr Gillian and her family have decided to return to Australia and make Newcastle their new home. They also bring their 9-year-old border terrier, Betsy, to join our AREC animal family.

The Animal Referral and Emergency Centre provides daytime specialist services and overnight and emergency or critical care for your pet.

AREC staff provide high quality care when illness or injury occurs, or if your pet needs continuing after hours care. AREC staff are trained in referral, specialty and emergency management to deal with any situation pet care demands.
