Keep an eye out – it’s tick season!
As spring and summer begin here on the Australian east coast, we’re bound to see an increase in paralysis ticks harassing our pets.
Paralysis ticks can be incredibly dangerous. Their toxin affects the nervous system, causing progressive weakness and paralysis that can affect the legs, swallowing and, most seriously, breathing. Tick paralysis can be fatal, particularly if it leads to respiratory failure or aspiration pneumonia.
